About Us

We are a nonprofit dedicated to preserving, documenting, and sharing the rich cultural heritage of the Luo people for present and future generations.

Our History

The Luo Nation Organisation (LNO) was established with the goal of bringing together Luo communities around the world while safeguarding our rich cultural heritage. What started as a modest gathering of community leaders has since grown into a global movement focused on uplifting and connecting Luo people everywhere.

The organisation was born from the understanding that, despite being spread across different regions, Luo communities share deep-rooted values, traditions, and a common identity. Its founders envisioned a platform that would unite these communities, strengthen their bonds, and celebrate their cultural uniqueness.

Today, LNO continues to expand, with members across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, and in diaspora communities worldwide. It remains dedicated to its core mission of unity, cultural preservation, and empowering the Luo people for generations to come

Our Story

Our journey began with a simple realization—many cultural stories, traditions, and languages are slowly fading. We created this platform to document, preserve, and share Luo heritage before it is lost.

What We do!

  • Document oral histories and traditions
  • Promote the use of Dholuo
  • Share cultural content (music, food, customs)
  • Engage communities and youth
  • Build a digital cultural archive
